Muay Thai

This could possibly be one of the coolest martial art forms, its right up there with Capoeira. Although significantly less dance ‘like’ than Capoeira, Muay Thai shows us just how fast a human can become, as well as how deadly. Called “The Deadly Art”, fighters using this style square off, fists held away from their faces, in contradiction to the modern form of boxing and strike each other quickly with shins, elbows, hands and knees.

Muay Thai was brought to my attention upon seeing the movie Ong Bak, which predominantly features a young Muay Thai master named, Tony Jaa, who is quite simply an amazing martial artist. If you haven’t seen this movie I highly recommend it. The Thai Warrior

The Wheel of Time

July 2, 2007 at 10:48 pm (Books)

The Wheel of Time, a book written by Robert Jordan, is perhaps one of the best fantasy novels ever written. Often compared to J.R.R. Tolkiens The Lords of the Rings saga, Jordan has created a world truly unique in its depth and clarity of vision.

When I was about thirteen, my older brother Bill introduced me for the first time to this Series. I do not doubt that his introduction caused my zest for reading and I know that since I picked up the first book in the series, The Eye of the World , I have probably read these novels well over fifty times apiece. If you ever got the opportunity I highly suggest it.
